March 12, 2021 (Nashville, TN) – Multi-talented social media influencer Cory Singer’s latest single is now available on all digital download and streaming platforms. One of the many new songs the indie singer-songwriter wrote and recorded during quarantine, “Someone” marks Singer’s first release since 2019’s “Girl.” On April 2, the accompanying music video will premiere with People Magazine in observance of World Autism Awareness Day, an occasion near and dear to Singer, who is autistic himself.

Making music isn’t the only thing Singer has been up to lately. He’s been building his presence on TikTok daily, garnering more than 2.3 million likes in the process. Despite the circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, Singer has managed to entertain, engage and connect with his growing fanbase just as much as ever. He’s no stranger to the spotlight; the New Jersey native has been performing since he was in the fourth grade. Since getting his start in his school’s theater and band programs, Singer has received critical acclaim for his work as both an actor and a musician.

However, when Singer croons about needing someone to love him in this moving ballad, it’s clear he’s talking about his desire for a different kind of attention. His heartfelt lyrics speak to the search for deeper connection that’s central to the human experience. Like everyone, Singer is after a relationship in which he can feel accepted, seen and worthy.

Conceptually, “Someone” covers similar territory as hits such as “Somebody to Love” by Queen and “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon. But even when working with such a well-trodden, universally-relatable theme, Singer still finds a way to stand out. Without a doubt, his take on this subject surpasses all others in its earnestness. Singer’s lyrics have an elegant simplicity about them. They aren’t dependent upon complex, esoteric metaphors. Because they address an underlying emotion everyone has experienced rather than a specific person or relationship, they are that much more accessible. For that reason, Singer’s plainspokenness benefits his songwriting immensely.

“I see the world differently than a neurotypical would. A lot of us on the spectrum, we see things as it is,” Singer said of his experience living with Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism.

The sentiment behind this song is so easy to identify with, you might wonder how it took so long for someone to put words to it the way Singer has. The truth is, the world just needed someone courageous enough to be as vulnerable as the task requires. Only Singer could be that someone.
